More magical moments in this second part about the very diverse natural beauty that the province of Murcia has to offer.

It is not easy to get to the narrow Bolvonuevo gorge. But the reward is worth it. First of all, a 6 kilometre long path must be followed through a protected area, which is part of the Natura 2000 network. This is where the Alharabe and Benamor rivers meet to form the Moratella river. What awaits visitors is an almost hidden gem with dense vegetation. But for many people it is above all the many natural, geological and archaeological aspects that make the area so special. The gorge is nicknamed the 'black throat'. The dark walls of the gorge have been formed by the action of water over millions of years.

The Calblanque Regional Park is located on the coast near Cartagena. Between Cabo de Palos and Portman this is a virtually unspoilt protected area. A place of spectacular beauty. In addition to the beautiful flora, the park is also an area with a great variety of animal life. Many hiking trails cross the Calblanque, making it easier to admire the park in depth. In addition, the location of the park offers a beautiful contrast between the view of the sea and the dense undergrowth. Still others come to Calblanque to admire one of the most beautiful sunsets in the region.

Las Fuentes del Marques is an oasis of peace just outside Caravaca de la Cruz. What makes this area special is the special microclimate and the presence of natural springs. This combination guarantees a perfect area where many plants and animals thrive. Although many people visit the area all year round, it is extra busy during spring and autumn. Then there is a rich variety of colours to admire from the plants and trees.

The small island of Fraile is located a few metres off the coast of the Amarilla beach in Aguilas. The fact that it can easily be reached by small boat or, if necessary, by swimming is only part of the attraction. Recent archaeological discoveries have shown that the tiny island was already populated in the Bronze Age. Earlier, it was already known that the Romans had stayed there. For these reasons and the beach, this is a popular piece of nature. Divers can also often be found in these waters.

Finally, three more highlights to enjoy Murcia's 'magical moments'. These have all been discussed earlier on this blog. At Puerto de Mazarron you can find the remarkable Bolnuevo rock formations, which have taken on imaginative shapes through erosion. See here for that.
The Almadenas canyon was formed over millions of years by the course of the Segura river. An area with a rich flora and fauna. In recent years, the gorge has also become the location where adventure tourism has grown enormously. For more about that, see here.
The valley at Cieza is a magnet every spring for many people who want to see the explosion of colours when the almond, plum, apricot and peach trees are in bloom in an area of 13,000 hectares. More about that here.
