Greetings from Toledo the city of three cultures - Van Dam Estates

Toledo, 74 kilometres south of Madrid, is one of the most special cities in Spain. The city of three cultures. That is what the old city on the hill is often called. As I walked through the narrow, winding streets, I quickly understood where it got its appropriate nickname. Within a few minutes I passed a beautiful Gothic cathedral, a 10th-century mosque and two synagogues. It is good to realise that three faiths have lived here in perfect harmony for centuries.
It was once an imperial city. Now it feels like a large open-air museum that seems frozen in a beautiful past. Its beauty inspired the artist El Greco to create magnificent paintings. And it is not difficult to understand what inspired him. Despite its carefully preserved heritage, Toledo also appears to be a city that does not shy away from innovation. For example, in gastro bars and on terraces, classic dishes go hand in hand with innovative culinary delights. The modern traveller can 'fly' over the Tajo river on one of the longest zip lines in Europe. Boredom is really not an option in Toledo.
Before leaving this intriguing city I came up with my own nickname for Toledo, namely the city of tolerance. Greetings, Jolanda.
