Moroccan Oasis in Crevillentes Campo

Moroccan Oasis in Crevillentes Campo - Van Dam Estates

Casa Morisca in the campo of Crevillente has been lovingly christened the Mini Alhambra. That's a rather pretentious nickname, which is obviously hard to live up to. Yet this Moroccan oasis, spread over several hectares, succeeds on almost all fronts.

What awaits the visitor after a trip on a dusty, unpaved road exceeds all expectations. A complex of lush gardens and attractively decorated Moorish buildings takes guests from one surprise to the next. It is easy to spend hours strolling in this serene oasis, which is a feast for all the senses. Everywhere you go, there is a new opportunity to take a beautiful photo or enjoy a cup of tea with Moroccan cakes or baklava in a private setting.

Access to the tea garden and the buildings is 7 euros (price level 2020). The refreshments are included. During the winter months, the Carmen del Campillo complex, as it is also known, opens at 4:00 PM and in summer at 6:00 PM. The late opening was chosen, because at nightfall the already super relaxed atmosphere is optimally enhanced by the lighting of the many glass lamps, the scent of jasmine and peacocks flying around or walking between the buildings. In colder weather the fireplaces are lit.

The fact that Casa Morisca is still so unknown is perhaps due to its remoteness, the poor signage and the fact that Crevillente is not high on the list of towns to visit for most people. But this compex deserves more. You will rarely find an oasis somewhere, which has been set up with so much sense of taste and detail. For additional information, visit the Carmen del Campillo website or the many accolades on Tripadvisor.
