Enjoy the wonderful starry sky - Van Dam Estates

We love to gaze at the night sky with awe and wonder. Even with the naked eye, a feeling of immense insignificance is hard to suppress.
Finca Astronomica near the village of La Aljorra, halfway between Cartagena and Fuente Alamo, plays on the widespread respect and curiosity for the wonderful world of planets, meteors and stars.
Various tours are organised from the finca for anyone who wants to know and experience more of the infinite starry sky. This is done in collaboration with the experts from Astronomy Tours. There are regular excursions for night observations, day observations, lessons in night photography and laser presentations of the night sky. Some tours are for the whole family. Others are for adults only. For optimal results, the tour starts an hour and a half before sunset and lasts a total of five hours.
Thanks to the use of advanced equipment, participants can witness the most wonderful scenes. For example, under ideal, but rare, conditions it is possible to see Saturn with its rings and moons. This is all possible because high-tech robotic telescopes, large optical telescopes and astronomical lasers are available to the public.
In addition to the regular day and evening observations, there are also special tours when special events are planned in the Milky Way. This can relate to a supermoon, meteor shower, shooting stars or when special nebulas can be admired. In general, the night sky offers the most spectacular views during the summer months.
The location of the finca was chosen because it is far away from city lights. In the middle of agricultural fields and a mountain range, an atmosphere is also created in which visitors feel as close to nature as possible.
The staff of the finca has tried to create a situation in the campo that feels special for young and old. There is a small 'zoo', eating by the campfire and listening to the experts who have a lot of knowledge about the wonderful phenomena in the cosmos. Their often illuminating explanations inspire many visitors to return more often and spend the night in the 'yurt village'. Those who wish to further develop their astronomy skills can visit a small shop that sells books, binoculars, telescopes and tripods, among other things.
