Looking down on the Costa Cálida from the air is a completely different experience than with your feet firmly on the ground.
The province of Murcia offers a range of opportunities to enjoy that special high-altitude perspective. Both ‘air tourists’ looking for a relaxed but impressive experience and adrenaline junkies will find something to their liking.

Hang gliding is not new. Its popularity in this region dates back to the early days, when the vast Sierra Espuña mountain range proved to be an ideal location for the sport. Floating over a landscape of mountains, seemingly endless valleys and gorges is a breathtaking experience. No wonder this remains the go-to spot for hang gliding. Beginners can fly together with an instructor. Life below is most colourful in spring and summer, but the views are spectacular year-round.

Less intense and often seen as super romantic is a hot-air balloon ride. A great location for this is the Ricote Valley. From above, you can admire the agricultural area that reveals its vibrant colours along the Segura river. The balloon ride floats over a landscape of fruit trees, fields, mountains, and picturesque villages—truly capturing the heart of the Murcia province.

Los Alcázares is the departure point for many microlight flights. A popular route in these low-flying two-seaters is along the Mediterranean coastline and the calm waters of the Mar Menor. But as co-pilot, you can also chart your own route for these fast and agile planes.

Slightly bigger and flying a bit higher are the light aircraft trips departing from San Javier. A common route gives passengers a view of the Mar Menor, La Manga, the Calblanque regional nature park, and Cabo de Palos. In ideal weather, the contrast between the Mediterranean Sea and the shallow Mar Menor is clearly visible.

And for the ultimate adrenaline rush: skydiving! The place to be is Alhama de Murcia. Emotions usually run high when the moment arrives to jump from three kilometres up. Of course, tandem jumps with a certified instructor are also available.
