People who have made a bucket list know that some adventurous activities also feature on many of those resolutions.
On the Costa Blanca, at least two of those cherished wishes can come true:
a hot air balloon ride and bungee jumping. Both subjects that offer a view of the Costa Blanca from the air in completely different ways.
The most serene experience is undoubtedly to look down on the area around Elche and Alicante from hundreds of meters in the air from a hot air balloon. Floating over the landscape, you can enjoy an ever-changing perspective of the world on the ground during a 'flight' that usually lasts an hour.
A common misconception is that hot air balloon rides can be quite noisy and windy. Because you move with the wind, the latter is not a problem. Moreover, the trip is almost silent. Only the soft whisper of the burner and the sounds on the ground disturb the complete silence.
The starting point is usually an open field near Catral. From the safety of the basket, the towns of Almoradi and Dolores are visible as tiny settlements. Depending on the wind direction, you can also see and experience the salt flats of Santa Pola and the El Hondo nature reserve in a completely different way than from the ground. The extra dimension that this high viewpoint offers of well-known tourist attractions, but also the mountainous nature and the dense orange groves of the Costa Blanca fills the people in the basket with wonder and admiration.
Various organizations take to the air daily with their balloons from this region. If the weather conditions permit, of course. But the company philosophy differs quite a bit. Some companies opt for larger baskets for more people. Others opt for the more personal approach with two-person baskets or accommodation for a maximum of seven people. Of course, this also means that prices for a flight can vary quite a bit.
The province of Alicante has three locations for the ultimate adrenaline rush. The most popular and highest bungee jump can be made from the Mascarat bridges between Altea and Calpe. The rocky surroundings with beautiful views are popular for two reasons. With a 'fall' of 60 metres, it is the deepest jump in the province. It is also the only bridge-to-bridge jump in Spain.
The jump from the Seven Moons bridge over the Polop river in Alcoy goes 50 metres into the depths. Here too, daredevils can enjoy breathtaking nature.
The newcomer who is not yet convinced that bungee jumping does not give too much of an adrenaline rush can start carefully in Villena. From a metal bridge, jumpers only fall 15 meters into the depths.
